Anissa is the founder and owner of Arubah. Anissa desires to help guide individuals and families into a space of healing, and specifically wanted to provide support to the people that were least likely to receive the services. Anissa believes that through relationship and with love people can be fully restored after any challenges they are met with in life. Anissa loves spending time with her five children, is very involved in church activities and enjoys reading. She completed her Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Saint Mary's University of Minnesota. She is approved with Minnesota Licensing Boards to supervise those seeking licensure as an LPC, LPCC, LICSW and LMFT. Anissa brings the concepts of Love and Restoration into all of her work, understanding that God embodies the perfect definition of Love and He restores. She embraces the fact that she is simply a vessel to assist in facilitating the process of healing.

The story of James Bean II.  It all started in the City of Gary, Indiana in 1976. The most profound event was the marriage to his beloved wife Pearline. Later they were blessed to have 5 children, which are now all adults. In the year of 1985 he started his journey in the field of social services. He began working at Gary Mental Health Center, that’s now named Edgewater Mental Health. This population of clients were acutely (SPMI) severe persistent mental Illness with dangerous tendencies. In 1987, the family relocated to the state of Minnesota and he began to work for a rule 36 facility named Carlson Drake. James is also an ordained Pastor with a Doctorate in Ministry from Warren Robbins University and in the same year he and his wife started a church in the city of Burnsville named Spirit of Truth Church. He went on to gain his college degree from Augsburg (BSW) in social work. He then went on to get his Masters of Social Work from the University of Minnesota. In 2016, he retired from Hennepin County after working there nearly 30 years. He is a lover of outdoors and fishing, fishing and fishing. He also enjoys a good game of chess and real live jazz music. His highest degree is a MSW masters of social work with a License Independent Clinical Social worker (LICSW). Doctorate Degree in Ministry.

Lisa Leon (she/her), MA, LMFT

Over her 20 years in the field Lisa has had deep compassion for those affected by sexual abuse and has seen firsthand the pain it can cause. Lisa believes when we understand what has happened to us, we can then process through with a clearer mindset and more tools. Lisa loves to spend her spare time with her twin girls, husband, and mother. As a family they are very invested in their two French Bulldogs. Lisa believes deeply in the healing power of animals; dogs are her love and focus. She completed her Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Saint Mary's University of Minnesota. She currently holds her licensure from the MN Board of Marriage and Family therapy as an LMFT.

Jenny is a therapist who believes in the power of compassionate connection. Her passion for this work rests on the belief that we are joined together in our human experience and that therapy can be a place to learn more about the challenges we face as well as the contributions we have to offer. She believes that clients are the experts of their own lives and that her role as a therapist is to provide a space where people feel heard, valued and supported to make the changes that they seek. She has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Child Psychology and a Masters Degree in Social Work, both from the University of Minnesota. She is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with over twenty years of direct practice experience. Jenny has been intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and has also been trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). Clinical areas of interest include: trauma, depression, dissociative disorders, borderline personality disorder, transracial adoption. In her spare time she enjoys reading, spending time outside and hanging out with her family.

Divine is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Divine holds a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Saint Mary's University and an undergraduate degree in Human Services from Metropolitan State University. She is passionate and dedicated to providing services to individuals, couples, and families from a culturally sensitive lens. She assists them in bringing out their unique talents and capacities to overcome generational barriers, social justice issues, family dynamics, and interpersonal issues. Divine’s approach to healing work is collaborative and includes Harm Reduction, EMDR, EFT, strength-based, and psychoeducation. She uses her professional training and personal experiences when providing services and creates a safe environment where clients can explore mental health issues free from judgment and shame. With her remaining time, she enjoys spending time with friends, being creative, off-roading, eating healthy, and practicing meditation. Divine is also a certified prepare and enrich facilitator and LGBTQIA allied.

Jen has a passion for working with children and is working on becoming a Registered Play Therapist. Jen also enjoys working with people experiencing anxiety, ADHD, depression, and boundary setting. She often works with individuals, couples and families with complex concerns ranging from learning about yourself to addressing the challenges that hinder you from being able to live the life you desire. Sometimes the hurts are recent; sometimes they happened long ago; sometimes they are still happening. All people have stories and experiences that influence who they are and how they relate to the world. Life happens and can make us feel stuck so Allisun intends to walk alongside those who are hurting as they become empowered to create the change necessary to find peace both inwardly and outwardly using mindfulness and a trauma-lens. In addition to therapy, Allisun shares her love of yoga with the community and can usually be found journaling or reading in her free-time. Allisun enjoys her work with families and in partnership with students at Hope Academy in Minneapolis. She has had years of experience working with kids in many different capacities so play-therapy comes naturally. She has worked with elders, adults, adolescents and children from various demographics. Her goal is for people to be able to walk into the space with her and feel like they can put the bags down and as though the weight of what burdens them is lifted even just a little.  She is passionate about meeting people where they are and building on it together using humor, strengths and attainable solutions to improve the quality of life. Kyla draws from Experiential, CBT, Collaborative, Psychoeducation, Solution-Focused and Trauma-Informed techniques in her work. Kyla utilizes a global and systemic to helping people build a healthy quality relationship with themselves, build healthy, strong and quality relationships with others and assisting them in finding tools to utilize when navigating hardships and life challenges.  She received her undergraduate degree in Psychology with a minor is Social Welfare from the St. Catherine’s University and a Master’s degree from St. Mary’s University. As a Latin woman and an immigrant, she has overcome challenging circumstances by reshaping, pivoting, and adopting (developing) resilience as part of her self-care kit. Marie is a clinical therapist and has her MSEd in Counseling from the University of Wisconsin-Superior. She has been exposed personally and professionally to different people and how they endure some pretty horrible situations such as a loss of a loved one, trauma from a scary experience, PTSD from a War. Marie’s vision is to create an atmosphere in her community where individuals and families from all walks of life feel welcome in seeking out mental health services. She is invested in creating and delivering a multitude of services that the community has been unable to access. Marie has been working in mental health since 2013. She has practiced in in-home family settings and community mental health. In addition to these places, one of her main focuses has been delivering school-based mental health services. Marie has been providing services to individuals and families ages 4 and up who have been experiencing a wide range of mental health difficulties. She utilizes a strength-based, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and person-centered approach. Marie loves teaching and mentoring individuals on their journey in mental health. Shana has 15 years of working in the human and social services fields in utilizing culturally and linguistically competent/relevant and respectful approaches to enhance meaningful and authentic engagement, involvement, and leadership to improve and develop communities. Person centered theory has been implemented in the framework of Shana’s primary goal in therapy. It helps highlight the significance of establishing and maintaining a trusting, secure relationship with clients by being empathetic, having unconditional positive regard, and assisting individuals in achieving a goal of congruency. Shana utilizes a person-centered approach by viewing the therapist and client as equal partners. Cindy (she/her) provides a collaborative healing environment to help a client learn to seek balance and healthy coping so she/he/they can reach their highest potential. Cindy's goal is to help clients listen to their inner wisdom rather than the external or internal noise that interferes with a life worth living. Cindy received her undergraduate degree in Psychology from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN. Her master's degree in Counseling and Psychological Services is from the University of St. Mary's. She completed her internship at Domestic Abuse Project where he conducted groups for women and children. For 10 years she worked in a day treatment program that focused on coping with serious and persistent mental illness that included DBT skills training groups. Her current outpatient practice is individual therapy. Her clinical areas of interest include: depression, anxiety, bipolar illness, borderline personality disorder, domestic abuse. adjustment and interpersonal difficulties. She complete intensive training in DBT and integrative medicine for mental health. Her joys outside of her practice include opening her home to friends and family visits, knitting and crocheting, reading and listening to podcasts.

Monica is a LAMFT therapist that chose to master in Marriage and Family Therapy with an interest in systems that impact people as individuals. She believes change happens once we become aware of these systems that include us, our family, our environment, and our personal morals. She later learned, while in graduate school, that this is represented by the term Bio-psychosocial-spiritual Model and Adler's Holism. She has a plans to become credentialed in Dance and Movement Therapy. 

She is a daughter, a sister, a cousin and a mother. She and her daughter love taking trips to site see, shopping for her love of slime and fidgets, enjoying music, dancing, watching movies, bike riding, swimming and spending quality time with close family and friends.

Alyssa begins her internship with us excited to work with all populations and explore her interest in trauma work further. Her approach to healing starts with an open, authentic, and collaborative relationship with each client in a safe, judgment-free zone. In her free time, Alyssa enjoys reading, spending time with friends and family, and taking on home renovation projects that should have been done by professionals.
