Essence Jamilla
Clinical Intern

Essence Jamilla is a Clinical Intern at Arubah Emotional Health, pursuing her Master's in Social Work at Augsburg University.
Her approach to therapy is grounded in the belief that individual healing is collective healing. She believes healing involves not only understanding the root of our thoughts and experiences, but also learning to listen, feel, and honor the wisdom held within our bodies. Drawing from her own lived experience, Essence is passionate about creating safe, trauma-informed, and affirming spaces that allow clients to better understand themselves, their emotions, and their nervous systems. She values being a lifelong
learner and approaches the therapeutic relationship with curiosity, compassion, and openness.
In her personal life, she enjoys creating and teaching dance choreography as a former hip hop and heels dance instructor, writing spoken word poetry, going to the gym or pilates, learning about herbalism, practicing EFT tapping, breathwork/meditation, and spending time in nature.
Essence is currently completing her certification as a birth and postpartum doula and is passionate about perinatal care.
