Zamzam Dini

Zam grew up in White Center, a diverse yet economically challenged neighborhood in Seattle, WA, where many residents were immigrants, refugees, and working-class families. In stark contrast to the towering skyscrapers of downtown Seattle, White Center was marked by struggles with poverty, drug activity, and a pervasive sense of uncertainty. Despite the community’s racial and ethnic diversity, trauma was a shared undercurrent that connected its people. From a young age, Zam was deeply curious about human behavior, questioning what motivated people’s actions and sensing unspoken pain within her family and community. The silent suffering surrounding them felt like an injustice—people endured trauma while the world carried on unaffected. With time, she recognized the privilege of growing up in the U.S. and the opportunities it afforded. This awareness fueled a passion to support those immobilized by trauma, leading her to pursue specialized education and training. Now a Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist specializing in trauma therapy, Zam has witnessed firsthand how trauma manifests differently based on various factors. Despite these differences, one truth remains—trauma does not discriminate. Through her clinical work, she has observed that while families may face similar struggles, their experiences and perceptions shape their unique realities.
